My goal each day is to tell the good stories of Perkins Local Schools students, teachers, staff, and community. I manage the district's external and internal communications via digital, print and in-person channels. I have introduced daily and weekly e-newsletters to keep stakeholders informed; expanded the district's social media footprint; streamlined, rebuilt and rebranded our district website to keep vital and timely information a mouse click away; and launched a print newsletter mailed to every district household and business to keep them informed about their school system.

I oversaw production of the Yahoo News Digest morning edition, which provided a definitive summary of all the important, need-to-know news. YND, which is no longer published, included all the top news, sports, finance and world stories summarized and detailed with slideshows, video, stock tables, maps, search links and other multimedia "atoms" to tell a comprehensive story via a mobile platform.My team included a producer and a copy editor, and together with a crew of photo editors we produce the digest, which typically had eight to 12 stories, every morning, 365 days a year.YND went "live" in January 2014. Prior to that, I was one of the first editors working on the project, fine-tuning the mix of news and multimedia components, and perfecting the digest through the dogfooding stages.The digest saw remarkable success–ratings on the iTunes store were 4.5 stars and above, downloads far-exceeded expectations, and we enjoyed wildly successful retention of users. YND was discontinued when Yahoo was acquired by Verizon in June 2017.

Just when I thought my journalism career had stalled, I was given the greatest opportunity of my career--I became part of a fledgling group within Yahoo to develop a new product--local news packaged and targeted for audiences in select markets, including Cleveland, Chicago and New York. Although most of my career was spent writing and editing news content for a newspaper audience, I jumped into a global digital marketplace, who's audience not only craved hard news and feature digital content, but much broader array of content, from viral video to odd/bizarre/quirky items to real-time hurricane and weather coverage.During the past four years, my role as an editor has evolved and matured at Yahoo. I transitioned to the Yahoo News national desk. I've been involved in several high-profile stories: I broke the story for Yahoo about three kidnapped women being rescued in Cleveland and live-tweeted from the court room during the criminal proceedings of Ariel Castro in Cleveland; I live-blogged during Superstorm Sandy; and worked the news desk in the Yahoo war room on the night Barack Obama won his second presidential term.

My mission as Crain's Cleveland Business' online editor was straight-forward: build the business newspaper's online audience and reach. I succeeded by adding compelling content, including video profiles and blogs.The job required that I not only build and maintain the website infrastructure, it also was responsible for the content that appeared on the site.

As the newspaper's technology reporter, I covered the software industry during the Internet bubble of the late 1990s and early 2000s. I also covered biotechnology, the Cleveland Clinic and NASA Glenn Research Center.

I covered urban development in the city of Pittsburgh, focusing mostly on retail but also the development of the baseball and football stadiums and convention center.

I covered Elyria City Hall, cops and politics.
