About Jeff Steward

I like museums and data. I work at the former and work with the latter. My agenda is to do good things with interesting data.I work with technology at art museums to make art accessible to the world. I’m especially interested in developing tools for making art accessible to science minded folks. I’ve built and led teams; designed infrastructure; developed software; created and managed budgets; and participated in long term planning. I take a holistic approach rooted in systems-based thinking. I continually experiment with technology.I’m also an artist and baker interested in weaving technology in to these disciplines in new and surprising ways.I build web bots to spread joy and spark conversations; game engines to explore new modes of storytelling; and online databases to gain a better understanding of how to contend with the relative uncertainty and instability of digital platforms. My areas of research include visualization of cultural datasets; open access to metadata and multimedia material; and data interoperability and sustainability. Specialties include technology integration and evangelism; and exploiting the fundamental interconnectedness of all things.Wanna chat? Let’s chat.
