According to a 2022 Gartner report, 9 out of 10 Boards of Directors consider cybersecurity as a “business risk rather than solely a technical IT problem.” Gartner continues that “at least 50% of C-level executives will have performance requirements related to cybersecurity built into their employment contracts.” As your vCISO, I aim to make you look good to the Board. This is my approach: I first ask, listen and learn about the organization. Then I measure compliance and assess what is working. I identify and prioritize gaps to close, while continuously monitoring to respond.I am an ambitious learner and always in professional development. I hold several certifications, including CISSP, CEH, CySA+, as well as UK/European IT Risk Management certifications. Next one is EC-Council's Certified CISO credential (scheduled June 2024).Experienced with ISO 27001/27002, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS 18 and PCI DSS.Other certifications include: Project+ and CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) from CompTIA, Microsoft MCSE, Novell MCNE as well as IAM and IEM from the US National Security Agency. Strong early experience in reproducing issues in complex customer environments toward resolution.I enjoy helping new grads find their first cyber jobs through my involvement with Digital Nova Scotia and the Halifax Partnership’s Connector program.
