In 2014, Jeff stepped away from his career to focus as a caregiver for his wife. Following her recovery, Jeff focused upon searching for the next professional chapter in his life. After much research and consideration, Jeff decided on home inspection. His life and professional experiences would be the foundation to begin this journey. Jeff passed the state licensing exam for home inspectors in July, 2015.With 35 years in the Engineering and Architecture fields, Jeff has gained a broad set of skills ranging from technical to managerial. Initially, worked as a draftsman for an engineering firm which specialized in bridge, roadway, and railroad design. The structures included timber, concrete, and steel.Through the introduction of computer aided design and drafting, Jeff became efficient with their uses and turned to training and support for these systems. This specialty moved Jeff from a design to a support role for the last 18 years of the career.While employed at an international firm, Jeff was instrumental during the growth from 1,800 employees to over 8,500 during his 18 year tenure. A part of the growth was through mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Jeff played a lead role in over 20 due diligence and integration efforts. Jeff often explained the due diligence process by using home buying and home inspections as an analogy. Much the way a home is placed under contract with a provision for an inspection, M&A activities included a letter of intent followed by a due diligence process. During due diligence, Jeff was responsible for the inspection of all IT and communication equipment and facilities. This included inspecting for safety, physical, electrical, and HVAC among other systems.Skilled in analysis, risk assessment & mitigation, and detailed planning to successfully execute strategic efforts.

Efforts included 24 due diligence projects (20 as the lead) and 28 integration projects (14 as the lead and 11 as remote supervisor). Target company sizes ranged from staff size of 4-366, number of locations from 1-30, and annual revenue of $1.2M - $52.4M. Identified a risk of €875,000 in licensing costs for 4575 installations of 30 software titles discovered on the computers of a targeted firm which were not properly licensed prior to close. Mitigated with business management through education of licensing agreements, determining real needs, and reviewing licensing options to eliminate the risk ahead of closing. Implemented the use of remote tools for IT asset discovery utilized during acquisition due diligence. This process improvement aided in shortened due diligence windows requiring quick turnaround. Developed an IT due diligence process checklist and supporting documentation for process improvement providing enhanced efficiency and minimized risk. Added efficiency and minimized risk by consolidating four SharePoint Collaboration Sites to a single SharePoint Collaboration site and generating document life-cycle.
