Appointed in December 2007 by Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez to the Trademark Public Advisory Committee, a nine member panel charged with providing advice to the director of the USPTO and preparing an annual report to the President and key Congressional leaders on the US trademark systemPractice focuses on trademark prosecution, entertainment and intellectual property law transactions and brand protection. Routinely addresses IP related business issues such as trademark clearances, trademark applications, licensing, the structuring of distribution relationships, negotiation of software agreements, the development of proprietary information protection systems (including non-compete and non-disclosure agreements for employees, contractors, vendors, etc.) and intellectual property due diligence in mergers and acquisitions. Oversees trademark registrations, in more than 100 countries around the world. Assists a number of the world's leading brands, including the Dallas Cowboys, in the fight against counterfeit products. Co-Chaired the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition Fall Conference (2006) which brought to north Texas brand enforcement professionals from the world's most high profile brands.
