This cross-functional position is focused on uncovering actionable and relevant sustainability insights that drive decision making, and serving as a spokesperson for HelloFresh's sustainability platform both internally and externally. Acting as a champion for our sustainability efforts, I spearhead the execution of HelloFresh's long-term sustainability vision, mission, and strategic sustainability plan.

I study the business from end-to-end, identify sustainability intervention points, and then assemble cross-functional teams to address them as needed - from supply chain to operations to the customer experience (including packaging!). As results are achieved, I then engage with our marketing team to communicate them in motivating and inspiring ways. Continuous improvement is our mantra - sustainability is not an end goal as much as an emergent quality of a set of best practices we consistently apply as a team. Worked with the CardnoGS Asset Management group (now Stantec) to develop management system approaches, solutions and decision support tools that help clients to reduce environmental and social risk (including climate risk), conserve energy, increase operational effectiveness, and maximize the value of enterprise assets. The approach includes distilling the elements of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and systemic resilience that provide a context for "sustainability" in the organization, and integrating systematic risk-based approaches for managing those issues into the "DNA" - from core decision-making practices to daily operations.Key clients included NOAA, NASA, USMC, BNSF, Portland TriMet, and the City of Lincoln, NE. Actively supported team development as new service areas grew under these clients, including identification, screening, training and management of new employees to meet growing project demand - as well as developing processes for delivery of these new services.

North American Business Unit lead for Corporate Sustainability Solutions, which combines strategic management systems consulting with a software product (SoFi) that specializes in sustainability data collection, analysis and reporting. The focus of this combined offering is termed "Enterprise Sustainability Performance" - empowering clients with the processes and tools required to drive the sustainability performance of their organization. This role included lead management and technical roles in the development and implementation of integrated and strategic management systems, leading the configuration and implementation of the SoFi software, and consulting with clients on Corporate Responsibility reporting (GRI, CDP, etc.) and Corporate foot-printing. Other activities included Life Cycle Assessment, sustainable development planning, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy benchmarking and gap assessment, and client "road map" development.

In the course of over 7 years with Five Winds, I functioned in a number of technical and management roles that provided me with a complete, in depth exposure to all aspects of the business. Five Winds International merged with PE International in 2011, expanding that experience as noted above. The primary roles and functions I held at Five Winds International were as follows:(2009-2010) Practice Leader for the Product Sustainability service line; which includes Life Cycle Assessment & (less rigorous) product impact evaluation, design for environment/ sustainability, development and validation of environmental product claims, product market positioning studies, and product/ material scorecard development. I was also heavily involved in Management Systems projects from my previous role leading that practice and ongoing Corporate Responsibility projects in support of sustainability reporting (see below).(2006-2009) Practice Leader for the Management Systems service line; which included strategic Management System (MS) development and implementation focused on the integration of Sustainability, Environmental, and Health and Safety goals (SMS/ EMS/ ESHMS), "green" product development (processes), ISO 14001 certification support, MS IT Tool needs assessment and implementation, and Risk Management tools. I also had an increasing role in the Product Sustainability service line and trained in Corporate Responsibility reporting (GRI) during this time.(2003 - 2006) Consultant in the Management Systems service line, supporting key projects such as the ISO 14001 certification of Denver International Airport, the Operating lines of Carnival Corporation & PLC (Carnival, Holland America, Princess, P&O, Cunard, Seabourn and Windstar), and generation of an EMS implementation manual for the state of Pennsylvania based on a year-long Municipal Pilot Project. I also trained in Life Cycle Assessment and provided general support for Product Sustainability projects during this time.

Field engineer and QC officer on CERCLA remediation projects to support Federal BRAC activities (Base Realignment and Closure). I directed site sampling and remediation crews, managed laboratory contracts, monitored treatment activities and approved waste shipments while ensuring appropriate documentation was in place throughout. Also performed routine data analysis on human heath risks using EPA SW-846 methods, design analysis for remediation projects, and technical report preparation.

Prepared regulatory compliance tools for clients in mining, chemical manufacturing, and petroleum exploration, production and refining, based on existing regulatory documents (permits, etc.) and research related to their activities, products and services. Other activities included waste profiling studies aimed at waste stream diversion and minimization. I was also involved in routine site cleanup and spill response activities, as well as water/ soil/ air sampling for various environmental contaminants and the preparation of technical reports interpreting that information.

Responsible for sampling water and soil for environmental contaminants, assisting in the preparation of technical reports (including recommendations) for clients regarding remediation and risk management options, and setting up field operations (laboratories, mobile offices, etc.). Typical field role was assistant to the remediation site superintendent (otherwise known as "jack of all trades", "go to guy" and "senior laborer").
