As an island girl from Bahrain, I’ve always seen myself as purpose driven. It wasn’t easy during my teenage years, I struggled to define what I wanted to be and how I would get there. With many uncertainties and an indecisive mind, what I wanted to be was a constant challenge.Labelled as a failure, I decided early on that my success would only be crafted by my own hands and in my own time. Professionally or personally, I’ve always been a strong and independent woman that would go against the grain and aim to achieve no matter what obstacles are thrown at me.Today, and with the struggles as lessons learnt, I’m proud to reflect on where I have reached today. Despite rejections and the occasional “banana peel” thrown under me, I’ve managed to steer my life towards a direction that reflects who I truly am!With a degree in English literature, I set out to see where my skill sets would reap rewards. I embarked on a not so typical career– from working in a travel agency to eventually entering the back-office world of British Airways, I saw my hands-on customer sales skills as a key driver and asset to be nurtured. I later joined one of the world’s top offshore banks (BIB) and was given a golden opportunity to go beyond the Public Relations role. Because I was given a chance. Moving to Dubai following my marriage, I landed what was then a simple administrator role in the oil and gas field with NOV. Working hard and going above and beyond, I was seen as someone with greater potential and quickly embarked on my journey to where I am today. Managing teams, leading the sales pipeline, influencing key stakeholders and my ultimate passion, dealing with customers, ensuring that no stone remains unturned until we get the deal and keep it! NOV gave me an opportunity and I am forever thankful, but it was time to move on.A year later, I was hired by Forum Energy technologies, where I quickly set my pace by securing high profile sales during the pandemic. Eventually, it was time to return to Bahrain after an amazing 20+ years in the UAE. And one day I received a welcoming call referring me to a regional role with Westerton Access. to where I am today, a niche company providing inspection services, and a new challenge for me. My journey has been filled with great people, most importantly, managers that saw my potential and have taken the right decision to develop me and leverage my potential.
