EDEN was established as an independent, non-profit organization forged to help families permanently escape homelessness. During COVID, issues that had already been a triggered for the homeless families we served had become crucial. Illiterate parents now are expected to supervise their children, help with homework, and compete against highly skilled individuals for employment. With the suspension of shelter visitations, the families were on the verge of depression and losing hope, increasing substances, and becoming mentally and physically abusive towards their children. Food insecurity and hygiene risks became significant obstacles for our communities.Our primary mission at EDEN is to provide clinical support, coaching, mentoring, and sponsorship to assist homeless families to face incapacitating barriers such as: Traumatized and dysfunctional family historyLack of education and skillsRacial inequityInadequate mental health supportTraumatic-based challenges that prevent them from escaping the shelter system with their children.
