About John Kennard
I am currently a design engineer in the new products development department at Jetstream of Houston. A relatively small company that produces ultrahigh pressure waterblasting/ waterjetting equipment for industrial cleaning and hydrodemolition. I'm not the typical desk-jockey bound engineer. I design parts on the computer then go build, test, repair and modify parts and assemblies until they work. I have a working knowledge of manual mills and lathes and am adept at using hand tools to fabricate or modify parts.I used to train space shuttle astronauts and flight controllers on the operations, malfunction signatures and associated procedures for the space shuttle electrical, environmental control, auxiliary power unit/ Hydraulic, mechanical and alarm systems.I've trained the flight crews for STS-95, STS-99, STS-125 and STS-129. I've trained flight controllers for more flights than I can remember. Just completed training Ascent/ Entry flight controllers for the last shuttle flight, STS-135. I was also a certified Mechanical 2 flight controller. I supported STS-128 and STS-134 Ascent and Entry operations in this position. Towards the end of the shuttle program, we experienced a shortage of astronauts for our simulations. We began using instructors as crew members. I worked orbit simulations and I was selected for the Mission Specialist 2 position for one of 3 ascent/entry simulation crews made entirely of instructors and flight controllers.Specialties: Real time monitoring/ interpretation/analysis of displayed dataRead and interpret drawings/ schematics/ functional representations of mechanical, fluid and electrical systemsDecision makingTechnical trainingAbility to work in a diverse team environment and soloFailure mode analysis3D modellingmechanical design
Listed skills include Simulations, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Testing, and 34 others.
