Mr. Kidd began his career with the Georgia State Patrol in 1988. In 1992, he was promoted to the rank of Trooper and began investigating motor vehicle collisions. In 1997, Mr. Kidd was selected as a charter member of the Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, whose task was the reconstruction of fatal crashes. Mr. Kidd obtained the rank of Sergeant and team leader of the Valdosta and Gainesville SCRT prior to his retirement in late 2009.Over the course of his career, Mr. Kidd has investigated/reconstructed in excess of 5000 motor vehicle collisions. His expertise spans a wide scope to include commercial motor vehicles (including ECM/EDR), conspicuity, human factors, bicycles, motorcycles, pedestrian, motor carrier compliance under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), signage related to the Manual on Uniformed Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and roadway design as directed by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).Collision Specialists, Inc. began operation in 2005. Currently located in Gainesville, Georgia, we operate an immediate response fleet that is second to none. Our on-scene investigators have the experience to inspect any and all motor vehicle collisions and the "on hand" tools to get the job done. In 1997 he was selected as one of the twenty “charter” members of the fatal traffic unit known as the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Mr. Kidd progressed through the ranks, obtaining the rank of Sergeant in Valdosta and later transferred to manage the day-to-day operations of the Gainesville office. Mr. Kidd retired in September 2009 after 21 years of dedicated service and upon retirement had investigated over 3000 collisions, to include nearly 1500 fatal crashes. To date, Mr. Kidd has investigated/reconstructed in excess of 7000 collisions.Mr. Kidd is a certified instructor and has taught in excess of 1400 course hours in the field of accident reconstruction in Georgia, Florida and Connecticut. He continues to teach annually through CLE’s to different organizations.He is ACTAR certified and has been recognized as an Expert in accident reconstruction in State, Superior and Federal Courts of Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Louisiana, North Dakota and Alabama. He has testified in well over 400 depositions and trial settings.Mr. Kidd has been certified to conduct inspections on commercial motor vehicle carriers and their drivers under the FMCSR's, including Levels I-III and Haz Mat.Mr. Kidd’s nearly 30 years of experience covers a wide spectrum of collision types to include commercial motor vehicles, passenger vehicles, rail, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles. Expertise has also been gained with regards to vehicle mechanical failures, such as tire deficiencies, lamp on/off determinations, conspicuity, as well as compliance regarding the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR). Mr. Kidd is knowledgeable of the standards required in the Manual on Uniformed Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) as well as roadway design, as described in American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). -
