Perfluorocarbon chemistry applied to design and synthesis of theranostics (therapeutic + diagnostic) nanosystems. We are applying perfluorocarbon theranostics to study of mechanisms of inflammation in cancer, neuronal injury, chronic pain and varied inflammatory diseases. The ultimate goal for our laboratory is to expand the theranostic concepts to traditional dosage forms which can lead to true personalized medicine. We also aim to use theranostic nanosystems as a tool for understanding disease mechanisms in vivo.
