As Senior Policy Advisor at the Climate and Energy Department of the Netherlands ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy I coordinate the Netherlands contribution in the International Energy Agency. For this I prepare the Governing Board and the biennial Ministerial meeting. Furthermore, I work in the domain of energy efficiency. I am responsible for energy efficiency regulation (Wet milieubeheer - Activiteitenbesluit) and the Long-Term Agreement on Energy Efficiency between the government and the larger industries (MEE/ 9PJ and MJA3 convenant).

Working for the department of Political Affairs, I was mainly active in the field of human rights and humanitarian assistance. For this department I attended and occasionally represented the Netherlands at EU coordination meetings, UN-meetings and NGO-briefings. I prepared sessions of the Human Rights Council and its Universal Periodic Review. Furthermore, my tasks included conducting research and assisting the diplomatic staff in their activities. During my internship, I became involved in and reported back to the Mission, Embassies and the Ministry regarding topics such as the position of human rights defenders, country situations, LGBT, the freedom of expression, humanitarian assistance and refugees. Moreover, I drafted and was involved in the preparation of statements delivered by the Netherlands to the UN. For the UN Forum on business and human rights, I managed, on a very short notice, to invite a Dutch Attorney-General to participate in a well-attended panel discussion on the access to judicial remedies. I organised his visit to Geneva, including meetings with several business, Ministry and UN officials. Additionally, I assisted from time to time at the department of Economic Affairs.

The Programme Committee (PC) is one of the boards of the Faculty of Arts and consists for one half of students and one half of lectures of the study History. The educational issues of the programme are on the agenda. The PC issues advice on the teaching and examination regulations and assesses their implementation. It also issues solicited and unsolicited advice to the Faculty Board and/or the Director of the Institute for Undergraduate and Graduate Studies. The student section of the PC represents the students of the History programme. It communicates their interests and detects possible difficulties students are facing.

The Studentenvereniging voor Internationale Betrekkingen (SIB) is a student association for people with an international orientation. As its English acronym DUNSA (Dutch United Nations Student Association), it is affiliated with the United Nations. I fulfilled the position of Chairman of the Travel Committee. Together with a group of six people, we organised the annual trip abroad, which took place from the 2nd till the 13th of May 2012. With 29 people we visited Marrakech, Casablanca, El Jadida, Rabat and Fez. As a Committee, we arranged visits and lectures from a variety of institutions and organizations for the duration of this study trip. Amongst others, we visited the African Development Bank, l'Institut Royal des Études Stratégiques, the Dutch Embassy, the United Nations Development Programme, the European Representation, the Moroccan National Parliament and the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to obtain a thorough image of the country and its position in the world.

To celebrate the anniversary of the SIB, the Dies Natalis Committee organizes an annual conference on a relevant topic. The 2011 conference on "Privacy - Are You Traceable?" took place on 7 November. Lectures and workshops were given by EUROPOL, academics, an investigative journalist and by engaged Members of (European) Parliament.
