A practice and organizational development professional, with a background in clinical mental health, working in the community services sector.Since moving to Australia in 2010 I have been teaching Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with the University of Sydney, coordinating regional mental health programs with North Coast NSW Medicare Local. I worked for Mission Australia as as a MH Practice Leader . I worked for Social Futures as their Practice Excellence Manager co-designing & implementing an organizational learning strategy. I have since returned to clinical practice with Pathways to Mental Health.I have published several texts on CBT including two Sage Publications bestsellers. My Masters dissertation research on organisational barriers to the dissemination of innovative mental health practice was published by Nursing Praxis in 2003.I left the UK NHS in 2004 to set up an independent psychological therapy service with my wife Sally (also a CBT therapist). Aurora CBT was founded to be a centre of excellence that offered exceptional therapy & a challenging, dynamic & supportive environment for therapists. After five years we had a team of outstanding therapists & a waiting list of people wanting to come & work with us. We gained an excellent reputation in Sussex & secured contracts with local NHS services & Universities.I very much enjoy inspiring people to reach beyond their own expectations for themselves & become the best mental health workers they can be.I have been fascinated by the human condition & the question of ‘ how can we live our lives better’ from an early age. I have worked in Mental Health for over 25 years.I completed post graduate studies at the University of Oxford in 1997 & went on to rewrite & teach a CBT for psychosis course at the Institute of Psychiatry London. From 2001 to 2005 I co-wrote & delivered the MSc in Cognitive Psychotherapy at the University of Brighton.
