Formally cross-trained in major subsystems of the Orbiter, External Tank and Solid Rocket Booster/Motor including: Space Shuttle Main Engine Avionics, Orbiter and SRB Instrumentation, Electrical Power Distribution and Control, Digital Processing and Environmental Control Systems and Life Support systems.Responsible for providing technical oversight, fault tree development, data collection and analysis for anomalies involving multiple engineering systems and flight elements leading to final resolution and closure.Submitted, reviewed and edited updates for the Launch Commit Criteria and Requirements Change Notification working groups.Developed and presented briefings, analyses, assessments, and recommendations to USA senior management and NASA management/technical staffs.Developed the Launch Complex 39 lightning detection, evaluation and retest procedures utilized to determine effects of near field lightning strikes on flight critical SSV and ARES-IX hardware, Ground Support Equipment and Facilities to mitigate labor and cost intensive retest and launch schedule delays. Initiative resulted in a 75% decrease in time required in assessing the launch vehicle post lightning strike. Briefed the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and Program Requirements Control Board (PRCB) for technical direction and recommendations following near field lightning strikes to the Space Shuttle Vehicle and Ground Support Equipment.
Space Shuttle Main Engine Avionics Engineer
Level 1 certified Main Engine Avionics cryogenic load and launch engineer with experience supporting numerous launch simulations and terminal countdowns.Responsible for performance of end-to-end hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical checkouts, SSME controller memory load, sensor and igniter checkout and propellant valve actuator checkout / calibration to certify the Space Shuttle Main Engines for flight-readiness.Served as a liaison between SSME design center, NASA and Pratt Whitney Rocketdyne in assessing programmatic changes and assuring that deltas were adequately addressed during the development of test and checkout procedures.Utilized knowledge of Orbiter hardware, operational constraints and safety requirement in identifying locations within the Orbiter aft compartment to accommodate the installation, operation and maintenance requirement for the SSME Health Management Computers (HMC) that were to be used for mitigation of catastrophic engine failures. Effort was coordinated with a team of engineers, technicians, safety and quality to assure HMC location would have minimal impact on SSME installation and normal vehicle processing.Developed extensive data bases and analytical tools to assess SSME Propellant Valve Actuators, Controller normalized pressure and Memory Backup Battery performance during flight readiness testing.
Orbiter And Solid Rocket Booster Instrumentation Engineer

Participated in numerous launch simulations and terminal countdowns as prime systems engineer with expertise in the following subsystems; Pulse Code Modulators, Multiplexers/De-multiplexers, Dedicated Signal Conditioners, Flight Recorders, Caution and Warning Advisory System, Modular Auxiliary/Developmental Flight Instrumentation Systems and SRB Avionics.Coordinated pre-mate interface checks of commercial and military/DoD payloads, with Payload and NASA customer, ensuring that all electrical, command and data paths were validated prior to installation of payload.Briefed Astronaut crews of flow processing anomalies, hardware modifications and anticipated flight deltas prior to beginning of mission.Team lead for the Orbiter Columbia aero-surface instrumentation and Orbiter Endeavour wing load and strain analysis modifications.
