Journo Resources is an award-winning social enterprise that helps people of all ages break into and progress within the media industry. We provide free-to-access innovative tools and resources to everyone, helping to level the playing field and making it more representative of the country.Founded from my bedroom at 3am, Journo Resources is now a UK-wide social enterprise, helping hundreds of thousands of people every year and with employees from Liverpool to Norwich. As a director, I lead the strategic direction, business growth, innovation, and editorial output. Here are just a couple of things I'm most proud of in the past eight years:• Building innovative resources not seen elsewhere — our freelance rates and salary databases collect thousands of data points to ensure people get a fair deal, our app JR Transcribe uses AI to offer unlimited transcription to all, and our pitch and CV library share real examples of successful applications.• We were the first (and still only) job website to ban listings which don’t have a salary — yet we’ve still built our services to be one of the market leaders, working with clients such as the FT, News UK, PinkNews, and many more.• Our weekly newsletter, The Opportunities, is now a leader in the sector, going out to 18,000 people every Tuesday. with an open rate of 50–60%. • Building a membership community of more than 600 people and rising, helping our community to help one another and our own financial stability.• Winning the Publisher Newsletter Awards (2023), IPSE Freelancer of the Year (2023), DBACE Awards (2022). NCTJ Awards for Excellence (2022), Sutton Trust Alumni Award (2021), Georgina Henry Award for Digital Innovation (2018), Print Futures Award Fellow (2019), WeAreTheCity Rising Stars (2019), and LEDE Fellowship Funding (2019).
