I have massively enjoyed undertaking my year in Industry with the Supply Chain team in Vauxhall Motors. I have been given great opportunities throughout the year, focusing on ways in which we can improve our material handling/receiving, and become more technical within the business to yield efficiencies.Mid-way through the year I was tasked with producing a Value-Stream Map for the company- this allowed us to highlight wastes and inefficiencies. As a result of successfully producing the maps, I was given an amazing opportunity to fly to our Poland plant in Gliwice to gain understanding of their production processes and ways in which they manage their material flow. This was a tremendously useful internal bench-marking activity.

I discovered my future career when I was posted to the Human Resource department of Worcestershire County Council for my year 10 work experience. Here, although only a student, I found I was able contribute to the work of the department and believe my ideas were valued and considered. I have been pleased to return there twice more; learning a great deal and becoming ever more convinced that I have a talent for business, and strong interest in HR.
