For my placement year during my Psychology BSc, I worked at Brighton CAMHS as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist.

I had a 1-2-1 role supporting the learning and socioemotional needs of two children with cerebral palsy and autism. During Covid-19 lockdown I took the initiative to independently run a support group for vulnerable children with a range of additional needs.

Providing 1-2-1 support to a Year 4 child with cerebral palsy:• Teaching and scaffolding KS1 maths curriculum in an interactive and engaging way• Getting trained on and supporting with Speech and Language Therapy (e.g. speech sounds, sentence semantics)• Daily reading and phonics support• Tailoring English lessons to the appropriate level and supporting writing on the laptop (e.g. using Clicker7/8).• Sensory activities and handwriting support.• Creatively producing my own hand-made learning aids for various topics e.g. timetables, vowel sounds

My role included:• Processing monthly NHS reports• Weekly administrative tasks (finances, missed appointments, tracking dentist working hours)• Carrying out audits and producing reports on various aspects of practice functioning,• Helping with the design of marketing materials and prompts for patients with dementia

I had full responsibility for opening and closing the children's clothing shop, setting up displays, manually taking and recording payments and communicating well with customers and fellow shopkeepers.
