Griffith University Graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Majoring in Sculpture. Almost 2 years experience in Events Management and 10 years experience in Retail. Jemma O'Brien is an Australian born artist who grew up, studied and worked in Queensland. From September 2016 to October 2017 she lived in Dubai, UAE. During this time and since returning to Australia she has been working for NOMAD Events LLC, assisting with the execution of events and conceptualizing them from the beginning of the proposal process. She successfully graduated from a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Griffith University Queensland College of Art, Southbank Campus. Her work has been exhibited with other students at QCA in the Graduate Show (2015) also with artists from the Indonesia and Singapore study tour, the exhibition JalanJalan (2014) held at the Project Gallery, Griffith University Queensland College of Art Brisbane, Australia. In 2011, Jemma completed her Event Management studies and volunteered at multiple events in Brisbane and the Gold Coast which includes the Gold Coast City Airport Marathon and the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. As an emerging artist she worked with diverse materials including wool, polystyrene, melted plastic and spray paint. She also works within New Media and Conceptual-ism. She explores the concepts of identity and the ‘self’, understanding the concept of what makes art ‘Art’. Jemma is also experimenting on the element of reality, investigating consumer products and aspects of everyday life. Jemma is continuing her exploration of consumer and cultural experiences in day to day lives. And she is also looking at increasing her ability to produce more New Media work and to create objects with mechanical qualities.
