Around X I’m known as “The Lorax”, a reference to the character in the Dr Seuss book of the same name :) My role is to protect, nurture and improve X’s culture and way of operating so that we can repeatedly generate moonshot technologies that become businesses that solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.As a member of the X leadership team I work with the projects we develop, alongside Marketing, Comms, Operations and People and Culture teams to create an environment where Xers can thrive to deliver on our mission.Throughout my career I’ve followed my interests and trusted that the rest will take care of itself. I love to problem solve and enjoy thinking about systems; how they operate, what creates change, and unlocking potential. I find joy in observing, I’m quietly persistent, and I’m happy to be wrong on the way to getting to something better.I grew up living abroad - first in Riyadh and then in Dubai - before moving to the UK at 18. A musician by training, I performed across the UK and Europe before switching to start-up life where I loved the entrepreneurial spirit, and fell in love with the idea of shooting for the impossible and building the trajectory to achieve it. Some of my proudest accomplishments so far include my work leading GOV.UK through the Brexit years and the Coronavirus pandemic, where we created user-centred services and information to ensure public digital services that everyone could use.
