Work for the Clean Energy for Rural & Remote Communities (CERRC) Program, which is a funding program designed to reduce the reliance of rural, remote and Northern communities and off-grid industrial sites on diesel fuel. Funding will help communities strengthen their capacity to integrate and manage renewable energy technologies while investing in projects that deploy proven technologies as well as those that demonstrate new and innovative solutions.

Work in the Geo-Mapping for Energy & Minerals (GEM) Program coordination office (GCO). The GEM program advances geological knowledge in the North to support increased exploration of natural resources and inform decisions on land use that balance conservation and responsible resource development.Responsible for responding to a variety of recurring requests at the department and sectoral level to ensure program delivery in line with anticipated program outcomes. This includes reporting on activity reports/plans; preparing monthly and quarterly reports, as well as a mid-year review to present to management, to provide an update on activities & identify any potential deviations from the activity plans.Also work on grants and contributions, as GEM provides funding to Canadian Universities, Northern Colleges, and other Northern institutions.

• Undertake federal environmental assessments of ecoENERGY for Renewable Power (RP) Program projects.• Assess and analyze technical studies and the consultation programs of projects and formulate preliminary conclusions on the environmental assessment findings.• Review the environmental impacts of major projects being proposed• Assess EA-review-related material in consultation with review agencies, the public and First Nations; advise on the need for additional relevant material and on the nature and scope of additional technical review data and information requirements; and analyze review material and formulate preliminary conclusions regarding the project assessment • Ensure that Follow-up Programs are implemented for assigned ecoENERGY RP Program projects and others as needed throughout the year. • Providing essential support to the Environmental Assessment Specialist in the application of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act throughout Ontario field units• Preparing or participating in impact assessment documentation • Participating in reviewing assessments prepared by contractors, outside proponents and Park’s staff• Providing technical advice and assistance to the Environmental Assessment Specialist regarding environmental impact assessment and natural resource management• Liaising with the Regional Screening and coordinating Committee, other federal as well as provincial agencies, Parks Headquarters, universities and outside interest groups or individuals with respect to CEAA and natural resource management• Field sampling (i.e. pit tagging Eastern Ontario native turtle, frog and snake species; monitoring Black Tern breeding grounds)• Planning and preliminary inventory work on designated species at risk such as the Black Rat Snake• Assisting in the co-ordination and application of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act along the Rideau Canal to ensure compliance with the process and to monitor its implementation along the Canal• Involved the processing of applications for and the administration of Rideau Canal• Regulations pertaining to shoreline development• Studies on boating management on the Rideau Lakes• Ecological monitoring and assessment
