I project manage, plan, and develop content for HES's Engine Shed to compliment and promote the organisation's brand, goals and mission. I specialise in creating a user experience through content which can often be highly technical in nature, including such topics as:• architecture• design• craftskills• science• technology and innovation• the social history of our buildings and the latest issues facing their conservation,such as accessibility, local economies and communities, legislation and policy, ethics, and employment.I work closely with creative industries and technical specialists to help them identify user needs in order to increase the impact of their work. I work with digital specialists to strategically plan our content and always ensure it is timely, effective, and impactful. We employ agile methodologies to ensure our content is produced efficiently and to the highest possible standard. My internship with Historic Environment Scotland was based in the Technical Outreach and Education team in the Conservation Directorate. The British Society for the History of Science's triannual magazine 'Viewpoint', explores the latest research, events, news, and activity in the history of science, medicine, and technology.As editor (formerly assistant editor, January 2019 - September 2020). I develop and implement the strategic direction o the magazine and determine the thematic approach to each issue in line with achieving the Society's goals, including reaching new readerships and working more closelywith communities, schools, and independent researchers.I commission, research, and write up articles; liaise with authors; lay out the artwork for each issue; undertake pre-flight checks including full edits and proofreads; license images for production; workwith colleagues and printers to organise print and distribution; and recruit and manage the assistant editor. I also work with publishers to procure book extracts to promote their books.
