Technology Adaption Specialist / Healthcare ScientistNhs England (Lancashire Area Team) Aug 2012 - Mar 2014I applied through a competitive process, for a Leadership Development Fellowship sponsored by the Chief Clinical Officer. I was successful in obtaining a secondment through NHS Northwest from August 2013-March 2014 to work as a Healthcare Scientist on innovative projects. The theory was that as a healthcare scientist we are naturally able to drive forward innovative ideas at scale and pace, due to the nature of what we do day to as scientists. The project that I worked on exposed me to the complexities of dealing with a completely new professional group (in this case GPs) and a new and complicated problem. I managed to demonstrate drive and determination and in addition used skills such as, diplomacy and charm to move the project along. In fact, it was so successful that the Chief Clinical officer secured additional funding from NHS England to continue the two day secondment for this financial year (2013-2014).

I was also been responsible for insuring that the student clinical physiologists successfully achieved all elements required for their personal professional portfolio. Teaching students throughout and beyond their degree programs was also an an area of this work I enjoyed.
