After leaving my position as a retail store manager for a job with a lot of promises that were not true, I returned to college to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, which I will earn in December 2024. I have since decided to focus on finding a position in Human Resources, selecting HRM as the concentration for my degree. I have always had an interest in HR, specifically in laws and compliance, and feel that it is everyone’s responsibility to abide by state and local laws, including employees.As a retail manager, I was only able to touch on a few HR areas, though my ability to connect with and understand my employees led to an efficient team who appreciated their jobs and worked hard, even at low hourly wages. It was my ability to lead and respect them as people that earned their loyalty, resulting in a close team that achieved results. I enjoy leading others and, though my goal is HR, I am open to returning to retail management because there were many aspect of the job that were rewarding to me.In addition to my interest in HR and my natural ability to lead, I have excellent computer skills, including the ability to teach others basic functions, such as Windows, Word, and Excel. I hope to someday find a position that allows me to utilize many of my skills, hopefully as HR support for a retail team since, after over 15 years of experience, I have extensive knowledge in retail sales and inventory.
