I was the only cashier during my time there, aside from the owner who ran my section of the store, which sold groceries, hunting/utility knives and other tools for living on the land, camping gear, canvas and oil cloth, various bear deterrents, and even some shampoos and soaps. Other sections of the store focused on clothing/outdoor gear/boots and shipping large orders of various supplies to mining/exploration/fire-fighting groups living out on the land.It was my job to process all transactions that were done in these various sections. I worked within the structures section of Highways, in the Department of Transportation. I assisted one of the senior project officers with inspecting bridges and culverts through the NWT. This included physical travel and inspection, as well as organizing the photos and documentation of these inspections, converting physical files and old reports to an electronic format, and creating reports on particularly damaged structures.
