About Jenae Batt
I am attracted to organizations with great missions: renewable energy, sexual health, education, and the arts. I thrive on helping people with world-changing ideas to engage with their stakeholders to drive advocacy and, ultimately, success. I seek to understand what people need in order to deliver exceptional customer experiences. As a hockey goalie mom, I have galvanized my nerves of steel. Through my recent work, I have developed engagement, communications, and education campaigns that connect people to their energy systems. I have implemented both local and large-scale strategic communication plans, managed multi-million dollar fundraising projects, and created both web-based and print-media public relations and marketing materials for an international audience. In my work in renewable energy and psychology, I have become especially adept at understanding complex concepts and synthesizing the information into content for technical documents, websites, social media, videos, and stories. Whether working alone or on a team, I thrive in a fast-paced environment with complex challenges. I have lived in eight states, and I am deeply grateful that my work experience has been as diverse as the landscapes that I have called home.

Marketing And Communications Manager
Senior Communications Specialist
Communications Officer, Institute For Sexual And Gender Health
I was the first marketing and public relations professional for the Institute for Sexual and Gender Health (formerly Program in Human Sexuality) at the University of Minnesota Medical School. The two projects that I am most proud of is helping to establish the Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education and planning the first Summit on Sexual Health in Medical School Education. I cultivated the program’s identity and brought attention to the groundbreaking work of the faculty in an effort to advance sexual health, strengthen stakeholder relationships, attract new patients, and inspire donors to support our program through thousands of hours of volunteering and millions of dollars in foundational support. Through consultation with faculty, consideration of resources, and research into industry practices I built a sound, multi-platform community engagement practice that exceeded the program’s goals to be more connected with stakeholders while engaging new constituents from local and international communities. Through my work, I became especially adept at understanding intricate faculty projects and research and synthesizing the work into a digital content strategy as well as into larger public relations and marketing campaigns. I had the great pleasure of working alongside world-class researchers, global thought leaders, and dedicated young people that will change the world.
Adjunct
For one glorious year I taught writing at a state university in Texas. College students are amazing.
Event Coordinator, Center For The Arts
I helped dancers, thespians, musicians, and clowns produce successful events at Salt Lake County’s Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, Capitol Theatre, and Maurice Abravanel Hall. Over three years I negotiated and managed more than 300 events for touring Broadway groups, local and national entertainers, and community productions. I helped artists by coordinating production details with all of our departments including the ticket office, patron services, stage management, concessions, security, and other clients. My work granted me the opportunity to build relationships with community members and customers alike to improve organizational services and to better preserve all of our resources.
Conference Services Manager, Hotel Monaco
I was the only conference services manager at a super-busy, super-cool hotel. In a brief 11 months I juggled all of the contractual details, including events, meetings, and guest rooms, for more than 150 groups on behalf of the sales and marketing department. I had the privilege of working on the Volkswagen North American Touareg launch and the promotional campaign “Breakfast with Charlie" The Bachelorette. I also coordinated the construction of a life-size, nearly-exact replica of a sleeping room on the street for a local radio station promotional event Valentine’s Day Pajama Party.
Event Producer
The most amazing job ever! Our small team made big dreams a reality. We unveiled a McDonald’s restaurant, turned weddings into lush gardens, and transformed a hotel ballroom into a tropical paradise in January. The work required extreme creativity and meticulous organization. This role developed my project management skills. I collaborated with client on the research and development of theme, design, budget, script, and technical elements. It was my responsibility to secure all event elements including venue, décor, audio/visual, electricity, transportation, entertainment, and staffing. For each event I produced, I synchronized event pre-production, installation, timeline, strike, and post-production. I had the opportunity to produce two corporate marketing videos including script development, interviews, and final edits.
Executive Assistant
This remains the most meaningful work of my life. I supported the talented and dedicated leadership at CATF (now AIDS Resource Center Ohio) including the Executive Director, Development Director, and Policy Advocate. In addition to traditional administrative responsibilities, in 1998 I served as the fundraising administrator for Art for Life, a fundraising event that hosted 2,000 guests, sold 260 pieces of artwork, and raised over $250,000. I was privileged to glimpse the beauty and cruelty of humanity by supporting those that served a marginalized community coming out of the worst years of a devastating pandemic.
