Vitalant Foundation (formerly Blood Science Foundation) is the tax-exempt fundraising arm of Vitalant, the largest independent blood supplier in the United States. Currently, Vitalant Foundation is developing a national fundraising approach, which comprises various regions throughout the U.S. Boughner focuses on fundraising in the Northeast region.

Managed all aspects of development; raised $795,000 in philanthropic revenue for the organization's local playfloor and national advisory practice in 2007, and secured 56 percent of the 2008 philanthropic budget before the start of the 2008 fiscal year; coordinated government relations program and secured more than $300,000 in government support

Planned, implemented, evaluated, and provided oversight of the corporate and foundation relations program for IUP's Institutional Advancement division, including assistance with a $34 million capital campaign, coordination of committees of volunteers from the corporate sector, and facilitation of cultivation visits between IUP's president and high-level.
