My professional experience with dogs began as a professional pet groomer... but that certainly wasn't the beginning of my personal experience! I ran a successful pet grooming business until deciding to become a stay-at-home mom after the birth of my son. My son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 4 and at that time I began researching therapies and treatment options - and this is where I discovered autism service dogs. Our family was then blessed with a service dog to help my son - this was Ollie. Before Ollie I was involved in fostering – with the hope of a good match for a service dog for my son and volunteering with the service dog organization while also fundraising and advocating. My son is a young adult now and we are working on building his future… so it is time for me to re-build mine! As a parent to a child with autism, my understanding of the science behind ABA provided a solid base to aid me in obtaining a mastery level diploma from Companion Animals Sciences Institute, studying under the instruction of world-renowned behaviorologist, James O'Heare. When it comes to dogs, there is, in my opinion, nothing that can come close to the incredible bond that can be formed between a human and their dog. Methodology wise I rely on science-based positive reinforcement training to best help humans and their dogs build a healthy, fun and mutually beneficial life together .
