I offer 20 years of design and construction expertise to help you avoid and resolve construction and design problems and disputes. I do so from the Civil/Structural division of ESi, an engineering and scientific investigation and analysis firm.In addition to forensic analysis, reporting on construction defects, repair expertise, expert witness, and related efforts, my highest value is in helping avoid such situations in the first place. I act as an in-house architect and design manager, where I offer my design, construction, and problem-solving experience along with that of ESi’s full suite of experts to keep our clients ideally informed and the design and construction team ideally managed, while safeguarding the quality and promise of good design. My goal is to not only minimize the risk of delays and legal actions, but also to avoid the situations I saw far too often while at architecture firms, where clients and owners accidentally undermine their own interests without realizing it. At ESi, we guide and protect the design team’s vision, actively avoid delays and cost overruns, and help realize the maximum potential of our client’s dreams.I view Architecture as the art of solving problems - the practice of understanding seemingly dissonant or opposing desires and constraints, seeking solutions that meet all the requirements, and from that crafting elegant designs that also meet the required schedules and budgets. I apply my experience to help design teams deliver the best possible solutions to my clients. Architecture, sustainability, and outside the box design thinking have been the center of my orbit since early childhood. A rich past includes notable experience spanning Construction, Sustainability, Owner's Rep, Development, Contracting, Fabrication, Public Speaking, Teaching, Research, and more. Design recognition has come from Tesla, Dwell, LA's Architecture+Design Museum, magazines, blogs, and others. - I had a significant role crafting and visioning a successful development proposal for 3 acres in the heart of Venice, CA. Post Covid, our team was invited to continue, but the developer withdrew due to new conflicting commitments. - My passion for design has led to invitations to critique final projects at Sci-Arc, USC, the Art Center, and LATTC locally. I served as an invited consultant at Architizer's Design Clinic at Dwell, and have presented at conferences on the future of architectural design, methods, tech, and biomimicry.- My goal is to support the success of as many well designed and executed projects as possible.
