The Intake Assistant position supports all areas of program delivery by working with families, individuals, service providers and other stakeholders to determine intake eligibility and funding requirements. This position is responsible for recommending appropriate support services within the organization according to, individual support requirements, program criteria and funding resources.Key Responsibilities:Complete a needs assessment/level of support for new and returning families within AdaptAbilities.Completion of all assigned tasks as outlined in Programs WorkplanConfirm or advocate for appropriate funding based on needConduct initial intake meetings with individuals and parents to determine individual needs.Ensure all required information for participants is received and processed in a timely mannerAssist individuals and their families to effectively navigate internal and external processes

The goal of this study will be to critically compare policy responses to household food insecurity (HFI)—the inability to access adequate food due to financial constraints—across four provinces with the highest (Alberta, New Brunswick) and lowest (Quebec, British Columbia) rates of HFI in Canada.Research Objectives:1) To conduct a scan of current federal and provincial (AB, BC, NB, QC) policies with potential to impact HFI (e.g., policies related to income, housing, and emergency food provision).2) To critically appraise assumptions embedded in these policies, as a means of questioning and documenting how these policies problematize different facets of HFI.

The In-Home Program Assistant will coordinate and assist with the operation of in-home respite services and HIA summer camp registrations including, planning and administration, intakes and family communications. As part of a five year study, the University of Alberta and Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF), are tracing how students in financial need with a history of community engagement activity are experiencing post-secondary education and progressing on into their careers or further education.As a research assistant with this project, I provide administrative support (emailing, scheduling, calendar management, coordination) and a unique student perspective. My end goal is to produce a blog post for the ECF website that provides my view of being a marginalized student in higher education.
