Learned several control room and studio operations, including camera operator, floor manager, teleprompter, building graphics, and audio board operations. As a student in the WUFT program, I was exposed to all positions involved in a live local news broadcast. In the fall of 2020, I served as the director of both Noticias WUFT and the nightly First at Five broadcast.

Responsible for all visuals during the broadcast. Managed multiple video packages during a live broadcast, and cued all graphics, fonts, visual effects, transitions going to and coming back from commercial, and graphics featured on the monitors in the studio. Also managed all camera feeds and ensured all camera shots were presentable, and adapted on the fly as required. Worked alongside the director and producer to create a smooth and accurate broadcast.

Responsible for mixing all audio during live broadcast, getting mic checks and managing mic audio levels throughout show, and actively mixing various channels of audio to ensure a smooth broadcast.

Ensured all equipment was working on the set, before and during show. that on-air talent’s hair, microphones, and clothing were in working order and presentable for live broadcast, and ensured the set was clean and free of debris that could have shown up on camera. Also served as communicator between studio and control room via headset and informed director and producer of off-camera action. Additionally, monitored all camera operator movements throughout production, ensuring a smoothly run show with all required shots.

Built all infographics, lower third graphics, title fonts, and ensured proper spelling and formatting for broadcast.

Followed camera script efficiently during live newscasts, framed and captured action in studio for public broadcast, and responded quickly to director instruction
