The AFR Magazine is a monthly glossy insert which combines in-depth journalism with luxury content targeted at a sophisticated discerning readership. In my time as editor the magazine achieved strong growth in revenue and readership and in 2013 won the best newspaper magazine insert at AdMedia's annual awards

The AFR is Australia’s equivalent to the Financial Times. In this senior editorial management role I had oversight of the Companies, Markets, Financial Services, and Property sections, with a particular focus on page one stories and features for the weekday paper and the Weekend AFR. I also ran a special investigations reporting team which won several Walkley Awards, the highest accolade for journalism in Australia.

The Sydney Morning Herald is Australia’s most influential metropolitan newspaper. In this role I had a broad sweep of news and feature writing for the main newspaper plus its lifestyle sections such as Spectrum and Good Living, and the monthly Sydney Magazine. I was also Chief of Staff and Editor of the Saturday Herald on a locum basis and edited the Saturday Herald’s back page Sauce gossip and entertainment column.

In this role I was responsible for all of the SMH’s business and personal finance coverage running two teams – the Business section and Money section. During the dotcom boom we launched a new section called biz.com to cover the burgeoning online business sector.

I was responsible for oversight of all business coverage in the paper as well as managing and editing the Business section.

CBD was the pre-eminent business gossip column and required reading for anyone interested in the corporate world.
