• Assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of State/Local/Tribal government program compliance with the requirements of 40 CFR Parts 50, 53, and 58 as it relates to the designing, operating, maintenance, quality assurance and data reporting of ambient air quality monitoring systems.• Serves as QA lead on key national air monitoring programs including Chemical Speciation Network (CSN) and Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environment (IMPROVE) networks: develops associated assessment materials for national review and corrective action. • Performs technical systems audits (TSA), quality system audits (QSA), and laboratory quality assurance data audits.• Leads performance evaluation Round Robin program to monitor CSN and IMPROVE laboratory performance for a variety of analytical methods, identify weaknesses and work with laboratories to resolve problems.• Identifies, develops and participates in research of critical QA questions in order to improve quality system or relieve implementation burdens on stakeholders. • Develops technical assistance materials related to ambient air monitoring activities including QA project plans, standard operating procedures, and technical notes related to specific responsibilities while contributing to the Quality Assurance Handbook for Air Pollution Measurement Systems Volume II.

At Us Epa Office Of Research And Development

Conducted independent research into the physical, chemical, and biological properties of bioaerosols. Research areas included bioaerosol agglomeration formation, particle transport, the study of dry and wet deposition of aerosolized biologicals, and particle resuspension; as well asextraction and analysis method development and validation to optimize microbiology laboratory processes and streamline workflows; laboratory information systems (LIMs) development; and the identification and implementation of instrumentation to increase laboratory throughput.

Center For Aerosol Technology

Managed program in partnership with EPA under a cooperative agreement to characterize emissions from a wide variety of air pollution control technologies for mobile, stationary, and industrial sources. Position required a thorough understanding of atmospheric chemistry and the processes resulting in ground-level pollution of National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) criteria pollutants. Developed, analyzed and provided technical expertise to air pollution agencies and industries on environmental regulations and guidance on the implementation of Clean Air Act (CAA) related programs.

Supported US EPA research programs characterizing aerosol emissions from indoor sources; authored test and quality assurance plans and project reports; co-authored peer reviewed publications, performed extensive literature searches and summaries, maintained project budgets, tracked project performance; and ensured project deliverables were met and/or exceeded. • Planned, designed, organized, and implemented indoor air quality research large chamber studies at EPA’s RTP, NC facility.• Managed, designed and conducted studies of particulate and gaseous pollutants from indoor sources, including:o PM2.5, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) and tentatively identified compound identification (TIC) emissions from burning incense.o Particle and lead emissions from burning candles.o Sulfur hexafluoride tracer gas interactions with combustion sources.o PM and sulfur emissions from indoor heaters.o Ozone (O3) generator emissions.o Particle resuspension from carpet, for use in indoor transport models.
