Managed the organization’s institutional-focused fundraising efforts, including conducting background research, cultivating key relationships, ensuring ongoing strategic alignment and program capacity, and creating proposals that result in sustained relationships with current and new foundation, government, and corporate funders. Supported colleagues in school district and community partner funding proposals. Maintained Salesforce database to track all funders and funding opportunities; gathered data and produced regular internal reports; tracked and managed reporting requirements for all funding partners; and produced all major reports. Worked with our Board of Director’s Development Subcommittee to create individual fundraising plans for all board members; to gain support for individual funding relationships; and, also with our Communications team, to plan and orchestrate annual individual giving campaigns. Created grant-specific budgets, participated in organizational budgeting processes, and helped drive strategic planning for development team.

Oversaw the development of all curriculum projects, including content scoping, writing, editing, and tracking project scope, deliverables, and progress. Projects included our flagship K–12 curriculum, Sustainable Intelligence as well as Green Building Lessons for a Sustainable Future; Design Studio: Framework and Activities for Innovative Problem Solving; Biomimicry and Science: Applying Nature’s Strategies; Business of Social Good: Entrepreneurship in Service of People, Profit, Planet; and EV Lessons for Schools. To support these efforts, hired, trained, and supervised art, design, copyedit, and translation contractors.

Served as project manager, curriculum developer, consultant, writer, editor, and reviewer on a variety of educational projects for clients that included Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), Holt McDougal, Pearson Education, Cengage Learning, Knovation, Six Red Marbles, Learnetics/Young Digital Planet, and Setting Pace. Projects primarily related to middle or high school science, but also included elementary and college-level product development. Also provided professional development services for Discovery Education, UT at Austin, UT at Brownsville, and Manor ISD.

Managed staff of in-house employees, student workers, and freelancers; developed courses for high school, including two Business Information Management courses; developed efficient system for reviewing, updating, and improving Credit by Exams for greater efficiency, consistency, effectiveness, results tracking, standards alignment, and error reduction; helped manage interactions with students and teachers of UTOHS to provide curriculum guidance and counsel and resolve curriculum disputes. Assisted in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of a new principal.

Designed, wrote, and edited engaging, accurate, and thoughtful educational materials for clients such as Holt, Rinehart & Winston (HRW), Immersive Education, Lorenz Educational Publishing, and Words & Numbers. Led an editorial team in editing an approximately 1,000-page, $500,000,000 proposal for managing TexasOnline for BearingPoint (now Deloitte/PwC). Created online material for clients such as the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and Pedernales Electric Cooperative.

Led new product development, publication revisions, and product repurposing. Developed a variety of curricula and oversaw the creation of middle school science ancillary products including an anthology of science fiction, a range of spirited lab books, interactive CD-ROMs, classroom management CD-ROMs, critical thinking workbooks, science puzzles, and other aids for middle school and high school students, teachers, and parents. Prepared and monitored timelines, efficient workflows, and budgets up to $1 million. Assembled teams of in-house editors, freelance editors, and development houses; trained the project team and managed their daily work. Established methods for quality control to produce print-ready products; provided creative direction and team leadership and monitored the integrity of all products; monitored the response of the marketplace, readjusting as necessary to suit market.
