Ensure that careful bench-marking and analysis is followed.• Lead projects such as VSAT communications tender and replacement across the fleet, in order to improve up-time, performance and crew morale.• Experience dealing with SoX audits.• Experience dealing with company mergers - we migrated users to our tenant including on-premise AD and Office365.• Experience working with Windows Server, VMWare, Veeam, Azure, Microsoft Office 365.• Experience working with specialised maritime software for email, PMS, ISMS, HOR etc.• Experience working with VSAT, FBB, Iridium, Sat-C and other communications systems.• Experience of dry docks, newbuilds and vessel takeovers.

I was responsible for maintaining good IT and communications onboard our vessels, for the ship owner / manager.Experience/responsibilities:• Attend vessels worldwide as and when required, scheduled (such as at dry dock) or at short notice, occasionally joining the vessel for a voyage to get the job done and avoid costly delays.• Support officers / crew by phone, email, remote support and the occasional telex with any IT technical and operational support queries.• Specify, configure, install and maintain IT and network equipment as required.• Install, configure and support both general office software and marine specific software, such as engine performance analysis and electronic charts and publications. Some examples of what I work with: GNS Voyager, ChartCo, Admiralty eNP/ADP, GTMaritime GTMailPlus and Shipnet Fleet (SMS / PMS).• Install, configure and support communications equipment, this includes JRC, Cobham and KVH satcoms (Fleet 77, FleetBroadband and VSAT).• Liaise with 3rd parties to improve services, diagnose and resolve issues, such as our satellite airtime and chart suppliers.• Provide support and training to junior apprentice.

INDUSTRIAL YEAR PLACEMENT (FULL-TIME) Jul 2011 – Sep 2012Front line IT technical support to staff and students by mail, phone and at a help desk point. Daily activities included supporting software, supporting the use of web services, managing computing / library accounts, network troubleshooting / registration / setup on customer machines and defining problems in detail for quickest resolution or referral. Other things I did during my Industrial Placement: Drop-in clinics (1to1 support / teaching), write & review FAQs, test and research new services (such as replacement webmail service), record instructional videos, assist users with account migration from IMAP to MS Exchange, anti-virus advice and installation, edit and publish web pages and support public MFDs across Aberystwyth.PART-TIME Sep 2012 – Jun 2013 Due to my previous experience working for Information Services, while completing the final year of my degree I worked 15 hours per week as help desk IT technical support to staff and students. I also answered queries by mail and phone.
