Led a distributed team of engineers in the completion of projects spanning the infrastructure of Second Life including Group Chat, Inventory, Asset Delivery, Agent Presence, Automatic Updates, and more. Supervised day-to-day agile development and product collaboration. Team's accomplishments include: - Increased the performance of the Group Chat system by a factor of two.- Re-architected the Inventory system to be faster and more reliable.- Upgraded the Second Life client and third-party library dependencies to compile with Visual Studio 2010 while maintaining compatibility with Mac and Linux.- Innovated a cost-effective and practically feasible garbage collection strategy for Second Life’s assets.

Architected, developed, and deployed protocol and server-side implementation of new auto-update service for the Second Life Viewer (in Python). Took service from design through production deployment in a total of six weeks. New auto-update feature shipped on-schedule, with performance testing, security analysis and testplans complete, and with all known bugs resolved prior to release.

Developed Django extensions library (in Python) to support build-out of scalable web service infrastructure for Second Life. Led development of a new Second Life Search web service and UI to replace legacy in-Viewer search. Met tight eight-week deadline. Helped design, develop and deploy new People API web service for Second Life, paving the way for major feature development including internationalized usernames, the ability to change usernames, and improved user searchability.

Wrote Pylons, AJAX, and SQLAlchemy based statistics dashboard (in Python) for BitTorrent's Distributed Network Accelerator (DNA), a P2P load distribution mechanism in which content automatically generates a swarmed download amongst users interested in a particular asset. Wrote chip test environment and interfaces (in C) as well as Verilog extensions to wrap simulation of Transmeta's low-power x86 CPU, "Crusoe." Wrote testplan and tests (in Perl) for DDR SDRAM interface. Brought chip testing through development cycle from inception through to production release.

As part of a three-person team, designed the board controller (in VHDL) for a Single Instruction Multiple Datapath (SIMD) parallel processor optimized for gene sequencing operations. Wrote assembler for proprietary instruction set (using Perl), and the board driver (in C) which communicated with the board controller via a PCI interface.
