About Jen Lemerand

An innovative and entrepreneurial creative leader, I build and motivate teams to find design solutions in unexpected ways. I see things differently, so I do things differently. I believe in taking a fresh look at creative, which is why people constantly ask if my glasses are upside down. My work history includes leading strategists, UX/UI designers, developers, writers, and project managers as a creative director at design studios in Chicago. In the fall of 2023 I made a move to the NW Arkansas region!Mentorship is the foundation of my leadership style. In 2011, I founded the Chicago chapter of SheSays, which provides mentoring opportunities and educational/ networking events for female-identifying creatives in the industry. I develop topics for events and choose influential speakers, organize event details and lead social media strategy. In 2016 I was appointed to the AIGA Chicago Board of Directors as the Mentor Chair. My team ran their Fall and Spring mentor program with 20+ mentors and 160+ mentees. I then took that experience to become the VP of Programming and Strategy to further extend the reach of the AIGA mission.By combining my leadership and creative powers, my job is to simplify complex problems and design with purpose... all while staying constantly curious.Specialties: Cross-functional Team Leadership · People Development · DesignOps · Digital Strategy · Concepting · Creative Direction · Product Design · Information Architecture · User Experience · User Interface DesignTop 5 Clifton Strengths:Strategic: People exceptionally talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed.
