Manager - Software Engineering
CurrentReporting to the Director of Software Engineering, led a team of 10 software engineers that corrected defects and completed minor enhancements in the Student Information System Software, setting team, individual goals and performance metrics. Managed all product releases, oversaw daily scrum team meetings and conducted weekly one on one’s, quarterly and annual performance reviews.Built and maintained relationships with both internal and external clients along with third-party vendors. Internal clients included Support Tier 1 and Tier 2, Software Installers from US and India, Software Engineers and leaders from other PowerSchool products and Cloud Operations Groups. External clients included school district administration and technology staff and those providing support to their district users as well as 3rd party vendors integrating with our SIS. Managed all Escalations/Critical tickets, reviewed incoming Jira tickets and allocated issues to appropriate team members. Met daily with Product and Support to review any support questions on new tickets/discuss new trends. Helped write and review the testing automation documents that were implemented by a team in India.Key Accomplishments and Achievements• In 2020, my team had been reduced to 4 software engineers. We started the year with 153 total bugs in the backlog, our goal was to reduce this by 30%. We finished the year with only 40 remaining bugs in backlog• Allotted office hours for internal staff to get help on complex topics such as APIs and integrations• Lowered the average age of our backlog to less than 90 days• Implemented performance improvements to our API which integrates Schoology into the eSchoolPlus product suite. This contributed to improved teacher experience and record sales during a time of unprecedented need for virtual student learning• Part of team that won 3rd place in the PowerSchool Hackathon out of 400 Registrations
