Provide leadership and support for a portfolio of Race for the Cure and Ride for the Cure events for Komen Michigan. Develop and implement event best practices that ensure successful event implementation in each of Komen Michigan’s regions. Work in partnership with Komen staff to identify and grow local volunteer planning committees, local partnerships and sponsorships. Provide volunteer leadership, coaching, mentoring, support and training for a committee of Race for the Cure volunteers in each region. Ensure goal achievement through the effective collaboration with Komen Michigan staff, community partners and the engagement, empowerment and mobilization of event volunteers.

Responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the Race and for coordinating efforts with the Race committee, office staff and community members. Work with the Executive Director to identify goals and objectives for the event. Identify and assign each of the major Race tasks and make sure the key personnel have a clear understanding of their responsibilities. Provide guidance to committee members as they initiate and implement steps to accomplish their respective committee’s goals, while acting as a liaison between committee members and office staff.

Sold event space for social events and small meetings. Provided building tours and vendor information to prospective bridal couples and corporate clients. Obtained signed contracts that outlined services to be provided and the costs associated.

Provided administrative support to the Catering department through both internal and external communication and documentation.
