As an intern at Sunrise Labs, my main job was to assist the upper level engineers on the various medical devices they were working on by performing tasks such as designing parts in Solidworks, constructing prototypes using 3D printers and other tools to test the structure and integrity of a design concept, and analyzing the devices through participating in failure modes and effects analysis.· Designed and prototyped using SolidWorks to assist various projects, including a plasma-drying medical device.· Participated in scrums, design reviews, and FMEAs.· Learned about injection molding, 3D printing, design for manufacture, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.· Presented a lunch and learn to the entire mechanical team and electrical team on a SolidWorks add-in called SolidWorks PCB connector that facilitates design work between mechanical engineers and electrical engineers.· Was introduced to ISO standards and design considerations for medical devices.· Collaborated with upper level engineers and other interns, interacted and met with clients and vendors, and problem-solved in a team environment.
