I'm a recent graduate, summa cum laude, of the University of Colorado. I have a passion for programing and databases--those who know me can tell you I've adored tables and charts since I was a young child. It's satisfying when the code I've written comes to life and creates something real, something people can understand and interact with.My areas of expertise shine through in my time spent as a teaching assistant as well as personal passion projects. In the former, I tutored, assessed, and sometimes even taught students in two courses: Compiler Design and Database Systems. Compiler Design was a class which, using Java as a base, led students to understand the mechanisms through which high-level programming languages are translated down to the code the machine can parse. Database Systems, meanwhile, covered the principles of good database design, management, and creation, including a major project in crafting and querying a large database from a messy dataset.My personal projects, meanwhile, are often written in Python--especially using Discord's bot creation API to integrate my code into a form my friends, family, and community can use easily and intuitively. My current project, Mesmer, combines Discord's API, Python, and a personal MySQL server to store, display, and process character statistic information for the online roleplaying games I enjoy. It allows players to access their stats directly in the system they use to play, speeding up and simplifying the online roleplaying experience significantly (especially for mobile players).
