I assisted the marketing team with promotional events and opportunities for the 2015 Orange County fair. I was responsible for various tasks including contacting different businesses that were interested in our promotions, preparing for events and ensuring they ran as smoothly as possible, and assisting the team get ready for opening day of the fair.

I was enrolled in a therapeutic riding class at Colorado State University in which I was given the opportunity to work with two different groups of riders throughout a six week riding session with each student. My main area of work was working with the horse which included preparing the horse for the rider and assisting the rider learn to control the horse throughout the lesson.

Colorado State University gave students the opportunity to learn to show and work with cattle, pigs and sheep. I was responsible for training and preparing an Angus heifer for two weeks in order to show her during the Little National Western Show. I gained experience with livestock animals and learned the basics of showing different types of livestock.

I interned at Wind Canyon Farms in which I first experienced the true responsibility of horse ownership. I learned the basics of equine care including feeding, grooming, and exercising. I was able to work with both a senior horse that required special attention as well as a younger horse that required training. I was also able to work on my riding skills in the western discipline and was introduced to riding english. This experience is what motivated me to want to work with horses on a daily basis and study Equine Science at Colorado State University.

I began volunteering with this organization and moved up to a leadership position in which I was responsible for guiding other volunteers in the actions that needed to be taken to complete the task of packing food boxes for the less fortunate. I prepared lines, provided instructions for volunteers, tracked inventory, and cleaned and restocked lines. This experience taught me hard work and the importance of organization in order to make a job easier. I was also a main leader in the 2012 Thanksgiving event in which several hundred volunteers packed over 30,000 boxes of food that would be distributed for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
