As a social media coordinator, my main task is to maintain social media pages. Since the Pettengill-Morron House never had a social media presence outside of being promoted by the main Peoria Historical Society page, my main goal was, and still is, to promote awareness and build a network and community of those who enjoy and support the house. Additionally, I created and maintain their Instagram profile and oversee the volunteer who helps with that.

Originally, I was supposed to volunteer only for the Holiday Home Tour 2015, but I ended up loving my experience so much that I still volunteer at the Pettengill-Morron House, whether it is virtually or in person. I started here in my last year of undergrad, so while I was in the area I physically volunteered at the house. This included weekly cleaning, packing up or setting out artifacts on display, giving tours, and brainstorming for future endeavors. Since graduation, I have returned for their larger events, namely the Upscale Porch Sale in June and the Holiday Home Tour in December, and a few visits in between.

At the Driehaus Museum, I am the front of house source of information for visitors, giving tours of the house, interpreting special exhibits, and answering questions, in addition to staffing the admissions desks and museum store.

My experience at the Campbell House has consisted of four main things: research, tours, exhibit design, and social media. Like my title suggests, I've had various research projects that turn into blog posts, exhibits, or additional knowledge of the family or time period. I have been trained in the history of the Campbell family and the house itself in order to give tours, which I love giving. Watching public become interested in the Campbell story or another aspect in Victorian era history firsthand is beyond rewarding. My day to day passion is connecting with the public through CHM's social media presence and constantly thinking of new ways to share museum updates. Another part of my research goes towards exhibit design. During my time here, I will complete two special exhibits- Curated Curiosities: Victorian Taxidermy and Other Parlor Pastimes, which ran April 30th, 2017 through January 23rd 2018 and Campbell House Museum: The 75th Anniversary Exhibit, which opened in May 2018. Throughout these projects, I have a lead role in the research, text writing, overall design, artifact acquisition, and promotion.

For a few months at the end of my undergraduate career, I volunteered as a docent for two exhibits at the Peoria Riverfront Museum: American Spirits: the Rise and Fall of Prohibition and The Street.

This internship involved a number of stages. First, another intern and I research prominent Peoria women, including Betty Friedan, Lydia Moss Bradley, Nancy Brinker, Judge Jerelyn Maher, Judge Mary McDade, and Martha Herm. Together, we designed and developed and exhibit space at the main branch of the Peoria Public Library. In addition to assembling the exhibit, we wrote proposals for the three of the women to be including in the National Women's Hall of Fame's Book of Lives and Legacies. (Betty Friedan, Lydia Moss Bradley, and Nancy Brinker are already in the Hall of Fame and therefore were not included in the proposal). One of the more memorable parts of this experience was actually meeting Judges Maher and McDade, and Martha Herm and presenting them with plagues signifying that they were excepted into the Book of Lives and Legacies. My partner and I also presented our project at the Student Scholarship Expo at Bradley University. This experience was meaningful and beneficial for several reasons. First, it was my first "hands-on" experience in terms of exhibit creation and working with various groups of people. My partner and I were a pretty solid team; she came in with an interest in women's history and I came into the project with a desire to work in the museum field. We ended up teaching each other a lot and gaining a better appreciation for the other person's perspective. Other involved parties included a local activist, the Peoria Public Library, Bradley University's Women's and Gender Studies Program, and, after my well-crafted email, the History Department at BU.

As an intern at the Chicago History Museum, my focus was on four things: -The Millennium Park Family Fun Fest. For the past few years, CHM has in the MPFF. For this, I planned the crafts, created the "photo opp" spot, obtained craft and other supplies, recruited and organized volunteers, and supervised activities for the week. The theme of summer 2015 was based on the newest exhibit at the time, the Five Star Challenge. where guests were invited to share their input on what the fifth start of the Chicago flag would theoretically be. So for most of the "photo opp" spot, I suggested we have guests dress up to represent their favorite current star. -I also assisted with the teen program, "Click, Tag, Share." This program consisted of a number of talks by photography professionals, photo challenges, critiques, and an exhibit opening featuring the teens' work. Although this program was pretty much set in stone by the time I started interning, I did get to help with the extra tasks that made the program run. For instance, ordering food, keeping in touch with guest speakers, printing the teens' photographs, and collaborating on the final exhibit and exhibit opening party. Although I did not directly participate in the program, it inspired me to pursue photography as well. -Went on various tours hosted by museum, assisted the guide (if necessary), and wrote reviews about contact, docent performance, and guest reactions. -Various other tasks, including decorating for special events such as the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, handing out promotional materials at movie nights, and crafting with kids at the Fourth of July event.
