The Connelly lab utilizes iPS cells in order to study the dynamic structure and formation of sarcomeres and their nuclei. In the Connelly Lab, I studied fibroblast derived murine iPS cells in order to culture beating cardiomyocytes. As part of this process, I worked with both embryoid bodies and sgRNAs to promote higher yield differentiation.

The Folker Lab is a cell and developmental biology lab that studies the mechanisms and functions of nuclear movement in Drosophila. I utilized embryos for identification of genes and processes that regulate the initial establishment of muscle structure and larvae to identify the genes and processes that are necessary to maintain the cellular structure during rapid muscle growth. In order to image the nuclei and muscles, I used fluorescence microscopy and analyzed these images in Fiji (ImageJ).
