Train Manager
Cabin Crew
Senior Cabin Crew Member
Senior cabin crew member on the Airbus A320 for the new domestic service offered by Virgin Atlantic!Responsible for the safety and security on board the aircraft, whilst managing a small team of crew and loading with flight crew and ground staff! I have the responsibility of other crew members, including holding a brief and testing knowledge before every flight. A major aspect of my role is decision making, which gives me the chance to make important decisions on how the day runs, and also if things go wrong. The role sees me taking a more managerial and hands on approach, including whether I deem crew fit to fly, resolve any onboard issues between crew and passengers, and lastly make the final decision as to what happens onboard the aircraft in terms of safety, security and standard operational procedures.Once the safety and security part of the role is taken care of, I put my customer service experience into practice and try to go that extra mile to surpass the passengers expectations and make them want to return!
Senior Cabin Crew
My main day to day role hasn’t changed slightly from when I was Cabin Crew, however my promotion now sees me in charge of the cabin on a daily basis. I have the responsibility of other crew members, including holding a brief and testing knowledge before every flight. Once on-board it is my responsibility to pass on all security checks to the Captain, and liaise with him, with regards to any defects in the cabin or with the airport, any cargo that is being carried and also the amount of passengers and any special requirements needed by passengers. This at times can be stressful, as we often have short deadlines and tight turnarounds to ensure the smooth operation of the day.I liaise with the ground staff and dispatcher, and deal with the days paperwork, including load sheets, passenger manifests and also baggage paperwork.A huge responsibility that I carry now as Senior Crew is decision making, which gives me the chance to make important decisions on how the day runs, and also if things go wrong. The role now sees me taking a more managerial and hands on approach, including whether I deem crew fit to fly, resolve any onboard issues between crew and passengers, and lastly make the final decision as to what happens onboard the aircraft in terms of safety, security and standard operational procedures. As a Senior I am also responsible for meeting on board sales targets and spend per head targets on each of the flights. In order to do this, I have to motivate other crew members into promoting the items we have for sale, and also give tips on link selling, and target markets on each flight.
Cabin Crew
Cabin Crew, previously based at Birmingham International Airport, I am now based at Newcastle airport, flying on short-haul domestic and European routes.Maintaining a professional appearance and stance whilst onboard and whenever in Flybe Uniform.Taking priority of passengers comfort, but primarily their safety on-board the aircraft.Taking part in a pre-flight briefing with other crew member, where the day is planned out, and we discuss safety and first aid scenarios, weather, flight conditions, service of the day, customer service points, banking and go through banking procedures.Carrying out Pre-flight safety and security checks, ensuring all safety equipment and security checks are completed and passing all checks onto the Captain before passengers board.Maintaining high customer service skills throughout the day, dealing with customer comments and complaints, dealing with disruptive passengers, liaising with ground staff, cleaners, caterers and a range of different passengers, from different countries and cultures, on a daily basis.I have also been trained in basic first aid and fire training as part of my four weeks extensive initial training. Training is on-going, and I carry out 3days of training and exams annually. This annual training is a legal requirement, which allows me to stay current on the aircrafts I operate on.
Event Coordinator
As part of my Undergraduate Degree I had to carry out a 48 week paid industrial placement! I carried mine out as an Events Coordinator at a 3* plus hotel in Sedgefield! Although classed as a placement, I was very hands on from day one to ensure I got the most out of my experience! My duties included manning the busy office, dealing with incoming enquiries, diary management and follow up calls to prospective clients! I was also responsible for showing new clients round the hotel facilities, for events such as conferencing facilities, meeting rooms and also wedding and formal functions!Once bookings had been made, I was responsible for contracting, liasing with external parties and also other departments within the hotel! On the day of the event I would be on hand to take care of any last minute details, which would include setting up the function room, dealing with number changes and ensuring all departments involved in the day know of all changes!! A bit part of my role as events coordinator was time management and organisational skills, as it was very demanding! The hotel was very popular with weddings and private functions, as well as holding Corporate Events such as the Annual Lobster and Oyster festival, the North East Business Awards and the Annual Wedding Fair, where I played a part in the selling of these events!
