Creighton School District is an elementary Title I district that serves a diverse student population, including mostly students with a Spanish speaking background. I taught approximately 30 students in an ELD (English Language Development) setting which included traditional subjects such as math, reading and science, but also had an intense focus on grammar, conversational skills and writing in the English language. I consistently differentiated instruction for students at multiple academic levels as well as implemented remedial strategies in reading, grammar and writing. In keeping with the district's vision, our third grade team employed many efforts to involve the students' parents as advocates for their learning, as well as maintained a classroom community that provided for authentic learning.
