I am a Senior Audiologist at Hearing Australia in Lismore. I have been in this position for just over three years, two of these as a Senior clinician.I studied a Bachelor of Science and Master of Clinical Audiology at the University of Melbourne. I pursued a career in Audiology primary due to my fascination with both the physiological and neurological aspects of the auditory system. Additionally, I have always been interested in health science and a career where I can positively impact the quality of life of individuals in the community, therefore, audiology was a perfect fit.My clinical experience has been varied and I have had to learn and develop my clinical skills quickly as I transitioned from an intern to a Senior clinician. I have a regular caseload of both diagnostic and aural rehabilitation cases. These include adults, paediatrics from 9 months up and those with complex medical histories and complex adults including clients with additional disabilities, poor communicators, clients with implantable devices and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. During this time, I have also been a supervisor to an intern working towards becoming a qualified audiologist. I therefore have spent a significant amount of providing guidance and support to a less experienced employee.During my time at Hearing Australia, I have learnt a lot and gained experience and knowledge in a variety of areas. Additionally, during my time at university during placements, I have gained had some experience in additional clinical work including vestibular diagnostics, electrophysiological testing, and auditory processing tests. I am very interested in improving my knowledge and clinical skills in these various areas to develop further into a well-rounded clinician.
