When I was 10 years old, I wanted to become the first female president of the United States. I knew it would take a lifetime of dedicated public service so I started small: I ran for 5th grade student counsel representative. It wasn't until I finished writing my concession speech, however, that I realized that I wasn't destined for political office. I was destined to be a writer. Though I formally studied English grammar, composition, and literature in high school and college, my real growth as a writer occurred outside of school hours. I received weekly requests from my family and friends to review my sister's essay, look at my brother's proposal, and critique my roommate's term paper all while being asked "what can you even do with an English degree?". After I received my diploma from the University of Michigan, I found the answer: Absolutely anything. With my formal education, past work experience, and go-getter attitude, my potential contributions to the workplace are endless. I can write a killer email that will impress your clients and positively represent your brand. I can create a full schedule for a business trip, book the travel arrangements, and make sure that your boss gets a window seat on the plane. I can verify that the documents coming from your CEO's office are polished, eloquent, and grammatically correct. I can speak to clients confidently and knowledgeably in person, over the phone, or through email. And, in addition to all of these skills, I can also learn new ones that will allow me to be an even greater asset to your company. If you want to learn more about what I can bring to your company, I would be happy to speak with you!
