The Abundant Birth Project is a pilot program that began with providing 150 Black and Pacific Islander pregnant people in San Francisco with $1000 per month during their pregnancy and post-natal periods. Led by Expecting Justice, ABP is expanding to five counties throughout California, including San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles, and Riverside in a project called the CA ABP Expansion. In this role, I am supporting the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of this exciting reproductive justice statewide expansion.

I co-facilitate Anti-Racism and Racial Justice in Public Health elective for UC Berkeley School of Public Health and UCSF-UC Berkeley Joint Medical Program students in the spring semester, alongside Dr. Zea Malawa.

The Praxis Project builds community power and cultivates authentic partnerships between community organizers and traditional public health to advance health justice and racial equity. In my role as a program director, I worked to center community wisdom in public health, philanthropy and allied professions through policy, advocacy, narrative shifts, collaborations, trainings and capacity-building. In this position I demonstrated success in building out the scope and reach of Praxis’ Research & Training team through development, cultivating institutional and community partnerships, and creating meaningful training and practice-based content to center equity in public health.

• Lead for planning, evaluation, and racial equity efforts in maternal, child and adolescent health in San Francisco.• Collaborated with Expecting Justice, a collective impact initiative to improve Black and Pacific Islander birth outcomes, to conduct anti-racism trainings and workshops for: San Francisco Department of Public Health's Primary Care Leadership, Best Babies Zone national convening, FSG, Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative, San Francisco Office of Early Care & Education, and other San Francisco city agencies.

• Co-led a human-centered design approach to develop a support app for young parents called Young United Parents!• Facilited the Young United Parents! Leadership team of two young moms in the Bay Area.

• Developed curriculum and technology components (SMS for educational messaging and data collection) of the adolescent health study “Promoting Sleep to Prevent Substance Use in Adolescents."• Piloted and implemented sleep education curriculum in 9th grade health classes in four Bay Area high schools.• Oversaw data collection, management and entry for program evaluation.

• Supported adolescent health research project looking at the relationship between school-based health center services and long-term reproductive health outcomes.

YTH is the partner of choice for those in search of new ways to advance the health of youth and young adults through technology. • Oversaw the YTH Youth Advisory Board, a national professional development group of young leaders age 18-25 with a focus on enhancing skills within new media and technology for public health. • Provided programmatic support for all agency text message programs including development of messages, programming, monitoring and reporting. • Participated in the planning of YTH Live, the annual conference on youth, technology and health.

CFHC's STD Programs is part of the CDC's Infertility Prevention Project, focusing on the reduction and prevention of chlamydia and gonorrhea among young adults. • Served as community liaison within Los Angeles County, to connect clinics, school-based health centers, and community-based organizations to CFHC's STD Program's materials, as well as to other resources available within the area. • Developed Los Angeles Family Planning STD Program in collaboration with STD Director and STD Program Manager; coordinate and assist in the evaluation of projects; oversee surveillance of community partners; coordinate training and special projects activities. • Assisted in the analysis of special project’s family planning data and/or direct analysis to assess key disease and behavioral trends. Provide reports to the LA and CA STD Control Branches, other CFHC staff, and family planning agencies.• Served as Co-Chair of SPA (Service Planning Area) 6 Service Provider Network, a coalition of health service providers in South Los Angeles. • Served as member of Southern California Sexual Health Summit Planning Committee.• Served as member of the Youth & Young Adult Reproductive Health Workgroup.

• Provided direct assistance to Executive Director, Deputy Director, and Program Manager in administrative and programmatic responsibilities.• Supported all agency programs, including design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs with focus on various sexual and reproductive health topics such as STD/HIV prevention and testing. • Provided programmatic lead for all agency text message programs including development of messages, programming, monitoring and reporting, as well as clinic updates for the inSPOT website clinic locator. • Organized and facilitated meetings, focus groups, staff travel and logistics. Supervise interns and part-time staff.• Acted as Volunteer Coordinator and coordinator of board member travel/logistics YTH’s annual 500+ attendee conference on sexual health education, youth, and technology. • Participated in curriculum development and trainings, database management and maintenance of national STD and reproductive health clinics.

With over 40 hours of sex education involved in the training process, this position is based on knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, as well as sex positivity and an open mind. As a Sex Educator/Sales Associate, I sold sex toys and safer sex supplies, while creating a safe space for customers to ask questions and learn about human sexuality.
