When I first met Jenna, she held the rank of Senior Airman, and held the specialty code of an Airborne Mission Systems Specialist. We were both assigned to the 965th Airborne Air Control Squadron, a unit of the 552nd Operations Group, under the 552nd Air Control Wing, located on Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. She was part of my team, D-Flight, and worked under my leadership performing duties as an Airborne Radar Technician onboard the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). My first impression of Jenna, was that she was a sharp technician, who invested diligent time and effort in becoming a subject matter expert on her assigned duties. She did not disappoint as she stood out as a leader who not only performed her duties flawlessly, but also invested in developing future radar technicians. She possessed great followership and leadership traits which enabled her to quickly earn an instructor qualification, flying over 600 instructor hours, cumulative to over 1,500 flying hours onboard the E-3 aircraft, enabling the deployment readiness and proficiency development of 5 inexperienced technicians. Her technical abilities were not the only traits that made Jenna an indispensable airman, she also possessed amazing administrative traits which allowed her to effectively manage flying, training, and readiness for 28 assigned technicians. It soon became evident that she was an airman who could be trusted with training and developing other technicians. Jenna soon demonstrated the required leadership traits to be trusted with higher levels of responsibility. She promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeants in less than 4 years, was assigned duties to the squadron’s Director of Operations Training (DOT) section. During her 2 years in this section, she highlighted herself as she led the unit’s Aircrew Management Board process, giving the unit commander training and positional upgrade oversight on 19 crew positions and 57 different qualifications for 250 assigned personnel. She did such a phenomenal job that her processed became a benchmark for 6 other units within the Operations Group. She was able to do this while still investing time in her studies and personal development in the medical field. I wholeheartedly endorse Jenna, she proved time and time again, that she is loyal, trustworthy, committed, and dependable.
