Walt Disney World Site Initiatives

As a Communications Specialist with Walt Disney World Resort Public Affairs, I cultivate relationships with partners across The Walt Disney Company and recommend strategic communications solutions to solve problems and drive business results. I develop, organize and implement strategic communications plans and tactics for the Facilities and Operations Services organization. I partner with Facility Asset Management executives to plan biannual Cast Member Town Halls that drive organizational culture and employee engagement. I also provide communications support for the Disney Aspire education investment program, various human resources initiatives, and more.

Magic Kingdom Park

As the Communications Associate at Magic Kingdom Park, I developed ongoing communication strategies for safety and wellness, merchandise, special events and more, reaching a Cast Member base of 12,000. I served as the point of contact for Cast events and recognition, and designed themed collateral for Cast events and information fairs. I was the lead writer and strategist for WKMK, the park's internal radio station, and the project lead for the signage strategy in backstage areas and at park entrances, always ensuring high-quality design and material selection, and timely installation.

Disney'S Polynesian Village Resort

As the Resort Operations Assistant at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, I was the coordinator and point of contact for all internal communications at the resort. I also oversaw local Cast Member recognition and was responsible for planning Cast events. I managed the strategy for all local communication vehicles and assisted resort executives with communication support, creative problem solving and strategic planning.

As an internal communications intern, I worked in Walt Disney World Resort Public Affairs to organize communication tactics for Walt Disney World Corporate Citizenship events and campaigns. I coordinated communication campaigns for Cast Member programming and events. I communicated food and beverage offerings, refurbishments and events in a variety of online and print vehicles. I coordinated and distributed the main print communication vehicle for approximately 5,000 Cast Members at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

As a student writer, I assisted University Communications staff in developing brand journalism that promotes Appalachian State University to prospective students, alumni, parents, donors, friends and the community. Daily tasks included interviewing students, faculty, staff and others for article assignments, writing content for multi-media use and representing the voice and opinion of students at Appalachian State University.

As a marketing intern for Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission, I assisted in writing press releases and other content for the company. I evaluated and wrote blog posts and created posts for CCPRC's Instagram account. I developed a creative children's story to create a brand for CCPRC's mascot characters. Additionally, I assisted all marketing department staff with specific tasks.
